10:44 a.m. - According to authorities, individuals who commit armed robbery are usually willing to commit additional crimes. As the investigation into Wednesday's incident continues, here are some personal safety reminders:
- Be alert and aware of your surroundings.
- Be cautious of strangers.
- Walk with others at night and stay in frequently traveled, well-lighted, open areas. Call UNC Police at 970-351-2245 to request an escort if you're uncomfortable walking alone at night.
- Don't get so engrossed in text messaging or using your cell phone or audio player that you forget to look around.
- Report suspicious activity to UNC Police at 970-351-2245 (and if you haven't already, program this number into your cellphone.)
9:45 a.m. - Authorities continue to search for two suspects in connection with an armed robbery late Wednesday. The suspects are described as black males, both approximately 6-feet tall, who were wearing black pants, zippered hoodies and purple bandanas over their faces during the incident. Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of the suspects, or sees anyone fitting this description and acting suspiciously, should contact UNC Police at 970-351-2245.
12:50 a.m. - UNC Police are in pursuit of two suspects of an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the parking lot of Arlington Park Apartments, 2315 9th Ave. One of the suspects pointed a handgun toward the ground in front of a student and took the student's bag. No injuries were reported. The two suspects are described as black males, both approximately 6-feet tall, wearing black pants, zippered hoodies and purple bandanas over their faces. They were last seen heading north down 10th Avenue from 23rd Street. Contact UNC Police at 970-351-2245 if you see anyone fitting this description and acting suspiciously.
